Isle of May

From May to October, the 'May Princess' sails from Anstruther Harbour to the Isle of May. The journey time is 45 minutes to 1 hour and includes a cruise around the island to catch sight of the colony of grey seals. On most trips you can spend 2 to 3 hours exploring the abundance of wildlife such as Kittiwakes, Razorbills, Guillemots and Puffins. It is also possible to visit the remains of the 12th century monastery on the island.

Tentsmuir Nature Reserve

A 20-minute drive from the hotel, the Forestry Commission’s Tentsmuir Forest is home to a number of species of bat, and a vast array of wading ducks can be seen on the Abertay Sands. The plantlife around Tentsmuir Point is also first class.

A small picnic area and children’s play-park is available at the entrance to the forest.

The Scottish Deer Centre

Enjoy ranger-led tours around the park, home to nine species of deer, bird of prey demonstrations, trailer rides, visit wolf wood and the treetop walkway or spend time in the indoor and outdoor adventure play area.
